Arunachalam Sundaram

About

Dr. Arunachalam Sundaram is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in Electrical Engineering and Machine Learning. He earned his B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Annamalai University in 2001, followed by an M.E. in Power Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Anna University in 2004 and 2014, respectively. Anna University awarded Dr. Arunachalam Sundaram the Gold Medal for his outstanding academic performance during his M.E. studies. Additionally, he completed a post-graduation program in artificial intelligence and machine learning at the University of Texas at Austin through Great Learning. He was a senior member of IEEE. Currently, Dr. Arunachalam Sundaram serves as a faculty member at the School of Science, Engineering, and Environment at the University of Salford in Manchester, United Kingdom. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and Program Director at Jubail Industrial College in Al Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With nearly two decades of academic expertise, he has developed numerous courses tailored to various industries. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, optimization techniques applied to power systems engineering, and smart grids. His prolific research contributions highlight this, including high-impact publications in renowned journals such as Energy Conversion and Management, Applied Soft Computing, IEEE Access, and Expert Systems with Applications. Dr Arunachalam Sundaram's work addresses critical challenges in dynamic economic dispatch, combined heat and power systems, modelling of transmission losses, and renewable energy integration, earning him recognition in the field. He has received multiple accolades for academic excellence and innovative contributions throughout his career, including the prestigious Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) Best Project Award and recognition for advancing energy-efficient technologies.
